Obituary for Don Leroy Seaton

Don L. Seaton of Clearwater, Florida, and Glenwood Springs, Colo., died on Friday, September 25, 2015, from injuries sustained in a tragic accident outside of Limon, Colo. Don was born Nov. 29th, 1938, in Albany, California, and graduated from San Jose State University, where he met his wife Nan of 56 years.

Don was a hotelier by profession. He and Nan owned, developed, built and operated 4 hotels in Clearwater Beach, Florida, 1 in Crystal River, Florida, and 2 in Glenwood Springs, Colo. In addition to his business objectives, he leveraged his hotels to build community and tourism.

Don was a true leader. His contributions included: Florida — Three terms as President of the Greater Clearwater Innkeepers Association, three terms as Vice Chairman of the Pinellas County Tourist Development Council, Chairman of the Florida Hotel/Motel Assoc., Director and Chairman of the Board of Best Western Int’l., Florida Hotel/Motel Hotelier of the Year, Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Lifetime Achievement Award (Mr. Clearwater); Colorado — Paul Harris Fellow Award (Rotary Int’l), Ambassador Aspen Ski Corp. (Buttermilk), President Aspen Glen Peaks HOA, Glenwood Springs Art Guild Patron, and generous contributor to Valley View Hospital.

Don lived life to the fullest. He was an avid golfer, seasoned snowboarder, world traveler and ATV adventurer. He was a Porsche enthusiast and was often seen cruising in his little red roadster. He loved his friends and relished his time with them.

He leaves behind his beloved life partner Nan; son Daryl Seaton (wife Jane); their 3 children Ditte Brundick (33), Lena Noel (30) (husband Mike), and Jake Seaton (29) of Crystal River, Florida; his daughter Leni Gill (husband Matt); their two children Derick (28) and Taylor (19) of Atlanta, Georgia; his daughter Wendy Damsker (husband Benje) and their son Travis (22) of Belleair, Florida. He also leaves behind 2 great-grandchildren Jack and Abby Noel and his beloved dogs Princess and Porsche.

A private service will be held at Mountain View Church.
