Obituary for David Lance Carver

David Lance Carver passed away on Oct. 8, 2015, at his home in Glenwood Springs. He was born in 1948 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. David fell in love with Aspen in 1968 while escaping school to try skiing in Colorado, and it was love at first sight. When the USGS offered him a job in Boulder, Colorado, in 1972, he accepted and arrived within three days. He spent the next 43 years traveling the world on earthquake response, exploring all parts of Colorado on ski and foot; and eight years serving on the Golden Parks and Recreation Board. He married his next true love, Susan Rhea, in 1982 in Golden, Colorado. He and Susan were delighted to call Glenwood Springs their home for retirement and Launchpad for enjoying the Roaring Fork Valley. David is survived by his wife Susan, son Benjamin, sister Catherine, mother Charlotte, and granddaughter Amelia. A memorial will be held on October 17, 2015, at 2 p.m. at their residence.
